Biennial Flight
Review
Every two years, you have to
- Earn a new rating;
- Complete a session of the WINGS program; or
- Get a BFR
Most people choose the BFR. A BFR consists of a
minimum of one hour each of ground and flight instruction. The ground school
will cover Part 91 operating regulations, and the flight portion will cover
whatever is appropriate to the kind of flying you do. Typically, this means
the maneuvers required for whatever pilot certificate you hold. For a
Private pilot, this may include steep turns and rectangular courses; a
Commercial pilot can look forward to chandelles and lazy eights. All
pilots can expect emergency procedures, including engine and instrument
failures, and short-field landings.

Mountain flying
Mountains have the ability to attract people whether it
be by hiking, horseback, automobile or airplane. Those people who choose to
encounter the mountains via airplane may be exposed to new and different
flight situations.Flight safety in the
mountains is not an elusive or difficult concept, but it does require an
awareness and understanding of the hazards associated with mountain flight
to reduce the risk and bring about an enjoyable experience.
We'll
teach you (remind you) about weather, density altitude, airplane
performance, oxygen usage, and safe practices for flying in the mountains.

Modern
avionics including GPS
Modern avionics are amazing things.
Two of the most popular and sought-after GPS receivers
are the Garmin GNS530/430, and the King KLN94. These units combine GPS
receivers, VOR/LOC/ILS receivers, and comm radios, into one compact package.
With that package, you get a full-color moving-map display, interfaces to
other avionics (including Stormscopes, fuel flow sensors, and air data
computers), flight computer functions, and a whole host of other
capabilities. Needless to say, these units can be complex, and difficult to
use at times. Our instructors are thoroughly familiar with these, and other,
units, and have extensive experience in electronics and computer software;
that experience gives us the abilitiy to teach you to use your new device to
its fullest potential.
Not only do we have the experience, we have syllabi
designed specifically for teaching about these devices. If you've bought a
new radio, or just need to brush up with the one you've had for a while,
we'd be happy to teach you to make the most of your equipment. We can set up
a dedicated program for you, or integrate avionics instruction into a larger
syllabus of flight reviews or upgrade training, whatever you prefer.
Just in - the Garmin 1000 this state of the art glass
system includes a Primary Flight Display (PFD), a Multi-function display (MDF)
and all the COM and NAV functionality that a pilot could need. We have
extentsive training material and a G-1000 PC based simulator to get you up
and using all latest technology quickly and safely.

High
performance endorsement
A high performance endorsement is required to operate
aircraft equipped with an engine rated at more than 200 horsepower.
You must receive ground and flight training from an authorized instructor in
a high performance airplane and then receive a one-time endorsement in your
logbook. You may hold either a private or commercial pilot certificate to
add this endorsement.

Complex
endorsements
To be able to fly aircraft with retractable gear, a
constant speed propeller and flaps, you must receive and log instruction
from an appropriately certificated instructor. There is no hourly
requirement, knowledge examination, or an FAA check ride.
We'll cover the theory and operation of the constant
speed propellor, and the systems relating to retractable landing gear, and
of course the emergency procedures relating to them.
